Ten, twenty, thirty years gone by –
Do you remember the tears that seemed so important that day?
Did you make sure to have it out with God?

Did you burn the candle at both ends –
Or did you take time to breath, that day?
Did you learn from your mistake and let it go?

Did you remember that time heals all?
Did you take that time –
To find yourself?

Did you believe in miracles?
Knowing there are many –
Pausing for each one?

Did you start each day with a cup of tea?
Did you make sure not to judge; yourself,
Or anyone else?

Did you get out of the waiting game?
Did you find the bright places – where the bands were all playing?
Did you sing, naked, with the birds?

Did you laugh?
Did you love?
Did you live?

Did you enjoy the day?

Follow That Trail!

Don’t get me wrong, I adore Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. I have ever since I can remember. In fact, you might even say that ten-year-old me who wanted to be a shark-studying marine biologist marked it as the highlight of her year. In the past couple of years, watching Shark Week as an adult who is aware of the state of the oceans and shark populations, I must confess I’m nothing short of disappointed in the lack of education in the shows that are aired.

They say all press is good press but does the same go for sharks? I’m not so sure…

With press like this, who can expect the public to be on the side of sharks? Titles include “Sharkzilla,” “Air Jaws Apocalypse,” and “Shark Bite Summer,” and I can’t but wonder what the actual goal is here. Understandably ratings are important but with shark populations on a rapid…

Subhan Zein

Good morning everyone,

My Blogging experience has been a wonderful one.

What makes it even more wonderful and surprising at the same time is the fact that quite a lot of my post were Tweeted.

My recent posts such as “A Quote from Pramoedya Ananta Toer”  and “Pantun: Your Heart is My Favorite Playground” were Tweeted twice; whereas other posts including “Life is Like a Book”, “Get Drunk Near the Sun”, “You Said These Are True”, “Life and Its Legs”, “A Great Mental Freedom” , “Seven Advices by Jalaluddin Rumi”, “Dance, dance Under the Rain” , “Whirling Towards the Divinity”, “Chinese Bamboo and Paulo Coelho” were all Tweeted once. I’m not even sure whether these posts are Tweet-able, but I am definitely roiling in excitement when I find a post of mine is Tweeted. You could imagine how my feeling is like when there are actually more than one post Tweeted. 🙂

Because I…

The Muse Is Strong In This One

I’m going to be up front about this. I don’t enjoy watching Citizen Kane. I understand the innovations that it brought to Cinema, but I don’t think it’s a very good film. It’s decent sure, but the best movie ever made? I wouldn’t say so.

Whenever people defend Citizen Kane to me, it’s often with the merit that it brought to the movies. “It changed the way people make movies!” With that argument, I can understand where they’re coming from, but if you look at the Top 10 lists of best movies ever (AFI’s is the most famous) it’s filled with movies from a long gone era. So long gone that movies like The Artist can win Best Picture based on nostalgia (whole other debate)!

When people list the best technology of all time, the items are usually fairly recent. iPhones, Xboxes, and other inventions lead the pack, because technology…
